I designed the cover and interior layout for a collection of poems by Anne Kaier, in partnership with Nine Mile Press. Her work reflects on living with Ichthyosis, capturing moments of struggle and quiet strength. Each poem appears alone on the right-hand page to give space for reflection. I used Degular—a typeface both sharp and soft—to mirror the emotional tone. In select poems, I created a two-part experience: a version with missing words followed by the full poem, evoking a sense of touch and absence. The cover features clashing red and orange to reflect the raw intensity of Kaier’s condition. Her name appears bold in the background, with the title centered flush left, giving her voice visual weight and presence.
